Koravellium Avast, también conocida como Aquella Que Trae los Rocíos al Alba y Koravari, es la Recipiente original de la Esquirla Cultivación.[2]
Apariencia y Personalidad
“Aquella mujer se extendía en la eternidad. ”
Antes de su Ascensión, Koravellium era un dragón;[4] sin embargo, parece tener preferencia por la forma humana cuando interactúa con otros como Esquirla. Cuando habla con la gente, normalmente adquiere la apariencia de una mujer de tez oscura con una complexión matronal, tiene el aspecto de una mujer de tez oscura, de complexión matrona, con la cara redonda y una melena negra muy rizada. Lleva un amplio vestido marrón que parece fundirse con la maleza y tiene una voz que se describe como el sonido de las piedras moviéndose.[5][6]
Parece ser bastante calculadora y cautelosa, y prefiere preparar las cosas desde un segundo plano en lugar de actuar directamente, probablemente debido a que ha visto de primera mano lo que le ocurre a las Esquirlas que se enfrentan a Odium de frente.[5] s muy reservada y secreta, se aleja de la gente y les oculta sus planes y pensamientos. Esto hace que muchos piensen que ha renunciado a la humanidad en su mayoría, mientras que en realidad se está escondiendo y planeando.[7][8] Cuando interactúa con la gente, es bastante cortante y segura de sí misma, sin dejar espacio para la discusión o las dudas, aunque puede ser considerada cuando es necesario.[5]
Sin embargo, puede ser amable. Se preocupó mucho por Tanavast y lloró su muerte.[7] Tampoco se opone a enseñar a otras Esquirlas a usar sus poderes. Parece que esto se puede utilizar para engañarla, aunque por el momento no está claro hasta qué punto llegan sus planes.[6]
Habilidades y atributos
Koravellium fue una vez capaz de transformarse entre formas de varias especies, incluyendo las de un humano y una bestia gigante con escamas.[4] Al ser un dragón, tampoco envejecía y era capaz de volar.[9] Aunque actualmente puede aparecer como quiera, su forma dracónica sigue siendo la más "verdadera".[6] Sin embargo, a pesar de ser la única dragona de Roshar, prefiere ocultar este aspecto de su naturaleza.[9]
Como Esquirla, es una de las entidades más poderosas del Cosmere, capaz de alterar las almas a través de la Antigua Magia y de manipular los recuerdos de la gente. Es capaz de crear poderosos spren y otorgarles habilidades similares a las suyas, aunque la única creación de este tipo que se conoce es la Vigilante Nocturna.[5] Como la mayoría de las Esquirlas, Koravellium está además dotada de una potente visión de futuro. Aunque es mejor que la de Honor, no está claro cómo se compara con Esquirlas como Dotación o Conservación.[10]
Historia
Poco se sabe sobre la historia de Koravellium anterior a la Fragmentación de Adonalsium. Como todos los demás Recipientes, proviene de Yolen.[11] Ella y Tanavast eran pareja.[12] Estuvo presente en la Fragmentación y tomó la Esquirla de Cultivación, y luego partió hacia el sistema roshariano con Tanavast, ahora convertido en Honor.[13]
Relaciones

Koravellium and Tanavast were once romantically involved, though the specifics of how are unclear.[12] Notably, the two share the last five letters of their names, and though it's unlikely to be accidental, it's unclear what, if anything, it means.
She publicly withdrew from the matters of spren and Roshar after his death, leading some Cultivationspren to believe she has wholly given up on humanity.[7] As the Stormfather is, in some ways, Tanavast's Cognitive Shadow, he reminds her heavily of him, and she feels about him much the same way as she did about Honor.[14]
Back when he created the visions, Tanavast highly respected Koravellium's ability to predict the future, calling it far superior to his own.[10] Presently, Stormfather feels much the same about her as Honor used to.[15] It's unknown how often the two interacted since Honor's splintering, if at all.
Taravangian
“Oh, you wonderful creature. You have no idea what you have done. ”
Koravellium engineers Taravangian's ascent to Odium, giving him the boon that alters his intelligence and empathy to prepare him for bearing the power. She hopes that he could carry it more honorably than Rayse, thus putting reins on what she considers to be the most dangerous of the sixteen powers. After Taravangian becomes Odium, she introduces herself to him and offers to teach him how to use his newfound abilities.[6]
Cultivation claims that she didn't have the full control over her boon to Taravangian, and that she could only hope that he would become someone who wouldn't pose a danger to the whole cosmere once he Ascended. In this, she appears to have failed, as Taravangian begins to plot a campaign of conquest almost immediately. He intends to use her and her generosity to further his own plans.[6] At the present, it's difficult to tell whether he truly is outwitting her, or if she's aware of what he's doing.
Nightwatcher
“Mother wanted a daughter whose shape and personality would grow organically. ”
Koravellium created the Nightwatcher directly, aiming to make a creature that would grow without the influence of human perception and thought, which is why Nightwatcher's point of view can be highly alien for those who interact with her, even other spren.[16] Nonetheless, she allows the Nightwatcher to interact with humans in limited capacity -- she lets her hold court in the Valley, granting petitioners boons and banes through Old Magic. Cultivation keeps a close eye on those exchanges, stepping in when she sees that the Nightwatcher is out of her depth, and occassinally granting boons in her stead.[5]
Hoid
“She and I never did get along. ”
For reasons unknown, Hoid and Koravellium are on poor terms.[17] He does not seem to think badly of her, but has his own nickname for her -- Slammer. How it came about is likewise unknown.[3]
Trivia
- Cultivation's vessel went unnamed until Rhythm of War, where her name was revealed in one of the art pages.[2] By contrast, both Rayse and Tanavast, the other two Vessels of Rosharan Shards, were named in The Way of Kings.[18][19]
- When asked if Koravari or Koravellium Avast were shifted versions of Cultivation's original name, Brandon did not confirm.[20]
- Koravellium is the only current Vessel to be a dragon.[21]
