Herdaz was a north-eastern coastal nation on Roshar, bordered by Alethkar, Jah Keved, and a number of Reshi Isles.[1]

The Herdazian peoples had crystalline, slate-colored fingernails.[2][3][4] Many Alethi stereotyped Herdazians as wearing sparkflickers[2][5] and being boastful.

They have a single Shardblade and set of Plate that are passed down through the royal line.

Herdazians are one of several races on Roshar with Listener blood in their ancestry.[6] As a result, they have a higher tendency to be asexual than other races without Listener ancestors.[7]

Dalinar Kholin frequently went on campaigns in Herdaz, and Sheler was captured for indecency towards women while with his army in Herdaz.

Notable Herdazians

  • Kabsal had a faint Herdazian accent.[8]
  • An illiterate Herdazian:

Above silence, the illuminating storms—dying storms— illuminate the silence above.

—A ketek by an illiterate Herdazian[9]
