m (Good observations Shlarsie; I don't think I'd noticed that before! As you noted, Tukks being a Sleepless is speculative; we like to stay away from statements like that, to hopefully avoid confusing readers. Anyway, welcome to the Coppermind; feel free to ask on a talk page or Discord if you have questions!)

Care. The key to fighting isn't lack of passion, it's controlled passion. Care about winning. Care about those you defend. You have to care about something.

—Tukks[2]

Tukks is an Alethi drill sergeant on Roshar. He lead the Takers, a squad of soldiers including Kaladin.[1]

Appearance and Personality

Tukks is younger than most sergeants. He is a short man with sunken cheeks, and something about his overall appearance seems "off" to Kaladin.[3]

History

Tukks trained Kaladin in Brightlord Amarams army. He was most notable for teaching Kaladin that it is acceptable to feel emotion in the midst of battle.[2] Kaladin does not understand this lesson at first, but later begins to understand as the difference between retaining your humanity and becoming a murderer. This lesson was also the first lesson that Kaladin teaches Bridge Four.[4]

He died in Amaram's army and Kaladin blamed himself for Tukks' death.[1][5][6]
