Los vaciospren son spren que, en vez de estar conectados con Honor o Cultivación, estan bajo el control de Odium. De muchas formas son parecidos a otros tipos de spren, como su habilidad de vincularse con cosas en el Reino Físico y sus diferentes formas y hábitos. Sin embargo, estos spren luchan en el lado opuesto de las Desolaciones, ayudando a Odium en su objetivo de destruir los rosharianos y al final obtener su libertad de Braize. Cuando se encontraron atrapados por el Juramento, los vaciospren torturaban a los Heraldos en Braize intentando hacerlos doblegar las barreras de Condenación y dejarlos regresar otra vez en Roshar.[1]
Vínculos
Igual que otros tipos de spren que forman vínculos, los vaciospren solo pueden vincularse a ciertos individuos en en situaciones concretas. Muchos vaciospren necesitan la tormenta eterna para realizar el vínculo, probablemente por su generación de luz del vacío. Los spren menores que crean Regios pueden vincularse durante las altas tormentas, probablemente porque los Regios no pueden investir luz del vacío. No se conoce el proceso de vinculación en previas Desolaciones ya qye esta es la primera Desolación en la que Odium ha invocado la tormenta eterna.
Algunos vaciospren, como Ulim, son capaces de enlazarse a un cantor sin cambiar su forma, residiendo en su gema corazón mientras el otro spren también permanece allí.[2] Los vaciospren pueden ir y volver de sus gemas corazón a voluntad, sin la necesidad de una alta tormenta.[3][4] Esto igualmente influirá las emociones del cantor, aunque la influencia desaparecerá si el vaciospren sale de la gema corazón.[3] Mientras estan dentro de la gema corazón, los vaciospren pueden comunicarse mentalmente con el cantor y incluso escuchar sus pensamientos.[2]
Algunos vaciospren son capaces de entrar en la gema corazón de cualquier animale, dandoles cierto control dependiendo de la inteligencia del animal.[5]
Types

There are many varieties of Voidspren, and each type, similar to the other bonding spren, serves a different purpose. Some of them can form bonds, and some haven't revealed whether or not they can. Raboniel has mentioned a type of spren capable of cracking ciphers, but further details about this type of spren are currently unknown.[7]
Guiding Spren
“That yellow spren isn't any better. Hurry up. Keep moving. She tells us that we're free, then with the very next breath berates us for not obeying quickly enough. ”
These spren haven't shown any bonding abilities, and they serve Odium as guides and messengers. One such spren is Yixli. They appear as glowing yellow, shaped like windspren with eyes like a Shin. In order to put themselves at the height of humans or singers, they stand on a yellow pillar that rises from the ground. When they walk, another pillar will meet any moving foot, keeping them even.[9] These Voidspren are seen guiding the multiple bands of newly made Voidbringers to settlements, cities and, in the case of Kaladin's group, to Kholinar.[10] They are able to detect the arrival of an Everstorm before it appears.[9]
Secretspren
These spren are similar to the above spren in their color, being yellowish-white, but instead of appearing similar to windspren, these look more like "vivid yellow spheres cackling with energy." They are used during the Siege of Kholinar to locate any fabrials being used in the city. If a fabrial is turned on, these 'screamers' will wail, then start twisting over each other above the area, alerting a quickly-following Fused. The screamers can also sense when a Lashing is used, but not when a Lightweaving is created. Pattern explains that he and Shallan are quieter than Syl and Kaladin.[11] They can detect Stoneshaping, but not a Willshaper looking into Shadesmar.[12] They cannot detect illusions, as they burn through much less Investiture than a Lashing, and their senses are fully blocked by aluminum. They could also be blocked by certain Aviar or Allomantic copper, as they are similar to life sense and Allomantic bronze.[13] These spren are useless within Urithiru, since the whole tower is made of fabrials and thus secretspren would have trouble locating a specific usage of Investiture.[14]
Overall, secretspren can detect Adhesion, Gravitation, and Cohesion[12], but cannot detect Illumination or Transportation (at least when it is used only to look into Shadesmar).[12]
Chaosspren
Chaosspren are normally invisible, but within Urithiru they leave sparks in the air.[14]
Stormspren
This type of spren can bond with singers during a highstorm or the Everstorm, granting them Regal power of stormform. The stormspren appear as rolling lightning that moves across surfaces. Despite a similarity in appearance, they are not of the same species as the spren Ulim, who can in addition take on a human appearance.[15]
Stormspren can be found naturally prior to the arrival of Everstorm. Hundreds of stormspren will appear at where a lightning strikes earth, and will linger a short while before disappearing.[16]
Other Regal spren
Other types of lesser Voidspren are likewise capable of bonding a singer and grant Regal powers. Their appearance and regular behavior are by and large unknown, as they rest in the singer's gemhearts to provide them their powers.[17]
