The Battle at the Tower was an engagement between the Parshendi and the combined armies of Dalinar Kholin and Torol Sadeas.
Dalinar convinced Sadeas to team up on a bridge-run. After spotting a gem-heart Sadeas set off for the Tower, easily outpacing Dalinar's slower, chull-drawn bridges.
Once there, Sadeas and Dalinar's armies attack the Parshendi. Sadeas then abandons Dalinar, pulling his army out of the battle. Dalinar is beaten by Eshonai, the Parshendi Shardbearer. Bridge Four stay behind and help Dalinar retreat.
After returning to camp, Dalinar traded Oathbringer for all of Sadeas' bridgecrews. He gave Kaladin the lead, and started using Bridge Four as a personal guard. He convinced Elhokar to name him Highprince of War.
