De La Coppermind
Ir a la navegación Ir a la búsqueda

Hello sir, I am a huge fan of the Way of Kings. I have the audiobook on my Iphone and listen to it basically everywhere I go, on repeat. Every time I seem to hear something new. I hope the small contributions I made were of help. I am really new to the editing of a wiki page. So, please feel free to add any hypertext links or correct my grammar as needed. I am not wanting to cause any problems to your wonderful resource here. I just thought a little more information on Honor would help understand the fight on Roshar. If there are any other pages you think could use some more info, I might have the knowledge to add a word or two, and the time to do so. I say this with the deepest respect to you, and your community here. It's not out of a sense of superiority, but out of a sense of almost duty. I want to help anyone emersed in this outstanding story to see connections I might have realized, that others haven't put together yet. Anyways, thanks for your time. keep me posted.

Sincerely, Corey (snote85)

So why exactly do you revert my changes and don't react on email? - Arkron

I responded promptly about why I reverted those changes, and so far as I can tell you have not sent me any email. As I stated before, we are not allowing ANY Words of Radiant content whatsoever until the fourth. --Windrunner (talk) 22:54, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
No Words of Radiance edits on content not in sample chapters. After that sure but I am so not okay you spoiling the book. Very few have read it. Disappoint. -- Chaos2651 (talk) 02:47, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Justice

So, could I have an explanation for why Justice still isn't a recognized Shard? - Horatio Von Becker

Not really sure why it would be. Brandon has never confirmed Justice as a Shard, and it has never been revealed to be one in any stories, canon or noncanon. Why are you under the impression that it is?

--Windrunner (talk) 20:32, 12 May 2016 (MDT)

Because he did confirm that "Threnity" was feeling the effects of a dead Shardholder. -- Horatio Von Becker
That's simply not the same thing as confirming a Shard named Justice. If I recall correctly, what Brandon did was state that the name Threnody is in some way related to the death of a Shard. Knowing Brandon, it easily could be true on a technicality. Nowhere did he say that that Shard is on Threnody, from Threnody, or that it is called Justice. Unless you've got additional evidence, it's not much more than baseless speculation.--Windrunner (talk) 09:34, 13 May 2016 (MDT)
Aside from Silence's mention that Justice died on Homeland? There were hints that Homeland was a different Shardworld, but the existence of the Simple Rules, and the Shades' role as their enforcers, does imply a relation to Justice. -Horatio Von Becker
I think you're confusing the role of the wiki. It is a place for facts and (very) occasionally theories that are all but confirmed and are supported by the majority of the community, book quotes, and Brandon's quotes. If you want to theorize about Justice as a potential Shard, feel free to do so on the forums, but the wiki is not going to have an article about it until there is far far more evidence than there is currently. That's just the way it is. --Windrunner (talk) 12:16, 13 May 2016 (MDT)
Ah. Curses. What's the general standard, then? Balance of evidence obviously isn't it, so I presume it's beyond reasonable doubt? -Horatio Von Becker
I don't think that you're really understanding what I'm saying. Your evidence is circumstantial, and open to alternate interpretations. Even if it was not, we don't really create pages based on speculation. In this case, I'll give you a standard. When Brandon says, "There is a Shard of Adonalsium called Justice," or a Shard named Justice appears in a canonical cosmere novel, there will be a page called Justice. Not before. With something as important as a Shard, we're not going to make a page without confirmation. When you have that, let me know.:) --Windrunner (talk) 19:36, 13 May 2016 (MDT)
Got it. Apologies for 'unproductive edit warring', but I found (and find) the evidence we have compelling, and wanted to note it. Evidently, I was unaware of the local etiquette in regards to speculation. No hard feelings? -Horatio Von Becker
You're fine, although in the future, if I (or anyone else on the wiki staff) tell you something is too speculative to add to the wiki, regardless of your feelings on the subject, you don't add it. I've been in communication with the other admins, and all of them agreed that Justice is too tenuous. I appreciate your passion for wikiing and hope you continue to contribute, but our number one priority is accurate information. --Windrunner (talk) 14:05, 16 May 2016 (MDT)

Some help

Hi, I'm Auri, I'm new here. I am having issues with signing in when I'm at the community forums. Plus, can someone create my user/talk page? My email address is already confirmed. --Auri (talk) 02:44, 17 February 2020 (UTC)

Hey Auri, when you're referring to issues, are you speaking about issues with 17th Shard? What is your username on there? What sort of problem are you encountering? Also, I can create those for sure, once you make a few edits you should be able to create pages yourself, it's just something we have enable to prevent spam page creation. --Windrunner (talk) 03:20, 17 February 2020 (UTC)
EDIT Also I just gave you that permission, so you should be able to create your user page and talk page yourself now!

Block on Dawnshard

Hi, my name's Niser. I am curious as to why the Dawnshard page has been blocked from edits.

Hey Niser, Dawnshard was protected because wanted there to not immediately be spoilers on that page when people were searching the title of the new novella. We've since implemented our new spoiler system so that's helpful. Additionally I had a mostly complete version of the page ready and didn't want to duplicate information. It has been updated now. --Windrunner (talk) 07:55, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

The 'immortal soul' joke in the forum TOS makes me uncomfortable

I would ordinarily go to the Comment form to talk about this, but I actually came to the forum because I seem to be having technical difficulties with the Comment form. (It says my message has gone through, but the newsletter confirmation hasn't shown up. I've even tried the pure newsletter-signup form, with my script blocker disabled. Nothing's worked.)

That said, the "your immortal soul belongs to the administrator known as Rubix" joke does make me uncomfortable, escape clause or no, and it's one of the main reasons I haven't joined 17th Shard yet even though I want to. Can you get it removed for me? -- HoratioVonBecker

Hello, I am one of the 17th Shard administrators. I am not sure why you are having issues with the comment form. Could you explain? I am not quite sure what you mean by "newsletter confirmation". As for the content of your message, it is a joke, and obviously doesn't have any actual power. We may remove it eventually when we revise the TOS but obviously it has no force of law, or anything. Maybe it's a bit of an outdated thing now that we are a bit bigger of a site.
However, I am still quite confused. 17th Shard does not have a newsletter, so I am not sure what you signed up for. Did you register an account? Your comment implied you did not. -- Chaos2651 (talk) 21:37, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
I meant the comment form on the Sanderson website, and associated newsletter. Sorry for the confusion. -- HoratioVonBecker
The forums are separate from Brandon's website, and we have no control over that :) That'd be a separate issue. I have had the issue of not seeing the confirmation on the newsletter on one of my emails as well; I am not sure how to resolve. -- Chaos2651 (talk) 22:08, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
Well, I was kind of hoping the tech support people would have some overlap, or at least know each other. Maybe you could ask the forum IT guy? -- HoratioVonBecker
I think you are confused, though I can somewhat see the confusion. 17th Shard is a fan-run thing, which runs the Coppermind and Arcanum. Though 17th Shard is sort of Brandon's forums, Brandon and his team at Dragonsteel have no involvement in any way in 17th Shard, Coppermind, or Arcanum operations. Brandon's site is separate and we have no involvement on the operations or newsletter on Brandon's site. We cannot assist you there. I am one of the forum IT guys but I have no useful details; I know other people on the forum have had some issues signing up for the newsletter. I personally have as well. You may want to simply use the contact form, perhaps: https://www.brandonsanderson.com/contact/ -- Chaos2651 (talk) 22:59, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
Not confused so much as hopeful. Thanks anyway. -- HoratioVonBecker

Hoid Relationships section

Hello, Windrunner! As you know, I've been working on a relationships section for Hoid. Seeing as you've claimed it, I didn't want to make such a substantial revision without your agreement. What are your thoughts?

Thanks,
