Trellium is the metal used by Paalm to hide from Harmony's sight and evade capture. The metal is from a Shard of Adonalsium currently known in the cosmere but which particular Shard is unknown.[1] The metal is not known to Harmony. The name is in reference to the force currently known only as Trell on Scadrial, and the metal is associated with that "god", theorized to be a shard.[2]

Trellium is a silvery metal with a red cast to it, and dark red spots similar to rust.[3][4]

Allomantic Use

When burned by an Allomancer, Trellium has unknown (if any) properties.

Feruchemical Use

When used by a Feruchemist, Trellium has unknown (if any) properties.

Hemalurgic Use

This unknown metal is used for the Hemalurgic spikes that keep the user hidden from Harmony.[5] This has a limited effect, however, and any more than a single spike will make the user visible to Harmony. It is an inherent property of the metal, and not a Hemalurgic attribute that hides the user. It is also used to create Chimaeras.[3][5]

It can steal Allomantic and Feruchemical abilities and grant them to Kandra, as used by Paalm.[4]

Presumably its Hemalurgic ability is similar to that of Atium, allowing the transfer of any ability with somewhat variable success depending on the binding point.

Theories

It is possible that this is the metal referred to by Miles Hundredlives in his final words as "the final metal."

Presumably, it is a god metal of one of the other sixteen Shards of Adonalsium, but certainly could be an alloy. It is not known which of the sixteen Trell is (or if he even is one). It is reasonable to say it is not Devotion, Dominion, or Honor as they are splintered. The metal is not of Endowment.[6] That leaves Autonomy, Cultivation, and Odium. Cultivation seems quite enraptured in the happenings of her world. It would be reasonable to guess that Trell is actually Odium considering his history with splintering other shards/working against them on a grand scale. If Trell truly is Odium, Raysium would be a more appropriate name for the metal. On the other hand, as the metal allows its user to be autonomous of Harmony's control, it could also be of Autonomy, in which case a more appropriate name for the metal would be Bavadinium.

Trivia

In the Alloy of Law: Masks of the Past adventure game supplement, Trellium allows kandra to use the Allomantic or Feruchemical abilities of another Hemalurgic spike they are spiked with. They also cannot be controlled by Harmony or brass Allomancy but they also lose their blessing.

  6. I could wiggle out of this one because ‘something to do with’ is very broad, but I can tell you no. It’s not from Endowment.
