It was never revealed as to why it took so long for Mare to be sent, though it can be assumed that the Inquisitors had tortured her for information on who her father was, being a halfbreed of nobility and skaa. When she finally broke and told them, they sent her to become a slave laborer in Hathsin. She died in the [[Pits of Hathsin]] after being caught in Kredik Shaw.
