—Elend on the storage caverns

The storage caverns are five caches of supplies hidden in caverns beneath certain cities in the Final Empire, left behind by the Lord Ruler. Each one contains a metal plate giving the location of the next cavern, and providing some advice or information from the Lord Ruler. Every cache contained a large supply of food and grain, but each one also had its own specialty.

The first cavern was discovered beneath Luthadel itself. The other caverns were in Statlin City, Urteau, Vetitan and Fadrex City, in this order.

Caches

Each cavern was in a rocky area, near metal mines, beneath a building of the Steel Ministry. The metal underground shielded the caches from Ruin, to prevent him from discovering them.
All caches were in or near the Central Dominance, Luthadel's cavern in the center, the other four forming a box around it.

Every discovered cache was bigger than the previous one. The Lord Ruler started constructing them after eight hundred years of his reign.

Luthadel

The first cavern was discovered beneath Luthadel, hidden within Kredik Shaw. Like all caches, it contained many shelves of canned food. A large metal plaque hung on the wall, depicting a map of the Final Empire with a circle around Statlin City, the location of the next storage cavern. A long tunnel led to a smaller room which held the Well of Ascension.

Statlin City

The second cavern was in Statlin City. This cache contained large amounts of lumber, and a description of aluminum was left here.

Urteau

The third cavern lay in Urteau. Information on electrum was revealed here. This cache held a massive amount of water which used to fill Urteau's canals, and was filtered naturally by layers of rock.

Vetitan

Vetitan was home to the fourth cavern. Its metal plate revealed that koloss and kandra can be controlled by using strong emotional Allomancy, and told about the existence of malatium, and also a warning that only one's thoughts are safe from Ruin.

Fadrex City

The fifth and last cavern was situated in Fadrex City. Notably, no useful information was left here, besides the Lord Ruler's words "I have hidden his body well", referring to Ruin's godmetal atium that was stored in the Trustwarren.
