An evanotype is a monochromatic photograph created through an early form of image capture technique on Scadrial invented after the Catacendre.

Evanotypes are taken using an evanotype camera. The camera used by the kandra explorer ReLuur to take evanotypes is a newer model that does not require the subject to stand still, and is small enough to fit in ReLuur's pack[1]

Someone has developed an evanoscope, an image projector, which the kandra VenDell considers will be quite popular. He tells Wax, Wayne and Marasi that Harmony let slip about moving images.[1]

Trivia

Evanotypes are probably inspired by the real world daguerreotypes, products of an early form of photographic process also called the daguerreotype. Just as the daguerreotype was named after its inventor, Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre, evanotypes might be named after the Scadrian inventor responsible for them.
