The transition from mistwraith to kandra requires specific types of Hemalurgic spikes, and not just any kind of spike. For instance, if a mistwraith ate a [[koloss]], they would not become a true kandra, but there would be "very weird side effects".{{wob ref|date=2016-6-11|4580|Barnes & Noble B-Fest 2016}}

Like kandra they appeared to be amorphous blobs capable of absorbing bones and tissue of other creatures to gain shape. However, unlike kandra, since they do not possess sentience these shapes were often horrific and mixed many different species into one.

Mistwraiths were a species of creatures on Scadrial.

They were created by the Lord Ruler from the Terris Worldbringers after he took the power at the Well of Ascension.

Through the use of Hemalurgy they could regain the sentience they once possessed, becoming kandra after being implanted with two Hemalurgic spikes. MeLaan mentions that removing both spikes brings the kandra back to their "primal state," once again becoming a mistwraith.[1]. The transformation from mistwraith back to kandra is quick, as evidenced when Wayne replaces MeLaan's spikes after she experiences this firsthand,[2] although this could depend on how much time passes between each state.

Mistwraiths are people who have a blockage between the Physical Realm and the Cognitive Realm.[4]

Evidence is not conclusive that mistwraiths still existed after the Catacendre.[5]
