Identity is an ability within the Cosmere that allows a being to have sentience.
Feruchemy
In Feruchemy, Identity is stored in Aluminum. To effectively use Aluminum a ferchemist must have access to all the feurchemical powers. By storing his identity in aluminum and then filling another metalmind he can create an "unkeyed" metalmind that can be used by anyone. In certain cases instead of allowing anyone to tap the metalmind it would only allow people who could already use that kind of metalmind to access the power. An unsealed metalmind is created by a Feruchemist filling an aluminummind while filling the metalmind with the desired trait or power.
