Jorgen Weight (callsign: Jerkface) is a cadet in DDF Flight School. He becomes Skyward Flight's flight leader and eventually befriends Spensa.

Appearance and Personality

Jorgen is tall, has brown skin and short curly hair, and according to Spensa, looks "distinctive in a kind of baby-faced, pretty-boy way."[1]

History

Jorgen is the son of a First Citizen, which let him pass the pilot test without doing anything. On the first day of classes, Jorgen states that he will probably be made flightleader. Spensa threatens him over this, but Jorgen was made flightleader, due to having the most experience and airtime. Over the course of the story, Jorgen complains to Cobb about Skyward Flight not respecting him enough, with examples like his callsign, Jerkface, which Spensa gave him. Jorgen revealed to Skyward Flight that Spensa was the duaghter of Chaser, causing Spensa to steal the power source of Jorgen's hover car. Later in the story, Spensa assaults Jorgen because he was insulting her. Jorgen doesn't report her because she is good in the air, convincing Spensa that Jorgen deserves some degree of respect. In a later flight, Spensa's flightmate, Hurl, dies. She crashes because she was unwilling to eject. Jorgen takes Spensa in his hovercar to give her a pilot's funeral, bringing the materials for a funeral pyre. They recovered Hurl's pin to give to her parents, burned Hurl's body, and stole the booster for the ship, which Hurl had managed to land safely enough that the booster was untouched. Jorgen helps Spensa get it to her cave, where she used it for M-bot, though he didn't know. Jorgen begins to get respect from his flight, even including them calling him a better flightleader then the leader of Nightmare flight.

Trivia

  • Brandon came up with his callsign before his name.[2]
  • He was both the character Brandon had the hardest time writing and the one he feels is most like him.[3]
