Hoed

The Hoed were a group of Elantrians that had accumulated so many injuries that they were effectively comatose from the pain.

After the Reod, the Elantrian people stopped self-healing and so any injuries, however minor, never stopped causing them pain. Since the Elantrians stayed immortal, some sank beneath the weight of the their pain, losing their minds, staying mostly at the same place and a lot of them always mumbled their own mantra.

Raoden looked for them and brought them to a house, which they called the Hall of the Fallen, where they were cared for. Raoden, too, was not immune to it.

“"Failed …" Raoden whispered. "Failed my love …" The mantra of the fallen; Raoden had joined the Hoed.”

The Hoed could be relieved from their pain by being taken to Aonas Shardpool which vaporized their bodies.

It is not stated what happens to them when the Aon is remade.

The word "hoed" is based off the Aon "Oed."
