Zahel challenged him to a fight to test his skills, using Awakened cloths to assist him, while grilling Kaladin about his motivations to fight and his religious beliefs. Kaladin recognized his fighting style as being the same as Azure's, and told Zahel that she was looking for him; Zahel was unconcerned, as she'd have to get through [[Cultivation's Perpendicularity]] first. Zahel didn't let Kaladin join the ardents because he realized that Kaladin still loved the fight.
