Vasher is a very skilled swordsman, with three hundred years of practice along with his Returned speed and strength. He could reasonably beat anyone alive in a fair sword fight.{{wob ref|14263}} Though he has admitted that he is not the best swordsman because his temper gets in the way, his ingenuity in combat gives him an edge. Denth states that Vasher was not a duelist, though this is likely in comparison to the other [[Five Scholars]], who are leagues above any mortal in fighting prowess.{{book ref|wb|29}} He is open to using "cheap tricks" in combat, such as transferring Breaths to stun his opponent, to make up for any skill gaps in a duel.{{book ref|wb|57}} A clear indicator of his sword-fighting prowess is that on Roshar he is a highly sought-after [[Alethi]] weapons-master, having directly trained both of the Kholin children and [[Kaladin]] in the use of and defense against [[Shardblade]]s.
