They grow in clusters, attached to stone, wood, or similar materials, and slowly open and close their shells in rhythm with each other. Haspers can be found in a wide variety of places, including [[Kharbranth]]{{book ref|sa1|3}}, [[Hearthstone]]{{book ref|sa1|44}}, and the chasms of the [[Shattered Plains]]{{book ref|sa1|55}}. Haspers are comprised of two shells{{book ref|sa1|44}} that enclose a slimy interior.{{book ref|sa2|55}} These two shells open and close their shells in rhythm with one another.{{book ref|sa1|64}} Due to this motion haspers are often compared to tiny mouths that are breathing.
