An '''Alerter''' was a type of [[Fabrial]] that glowed brightly when someone came within its range. The size of the Helidor stone that was its focus changed its range, the bigger the stone, the larger the range. There were dials on the bottom which were used to exclude certain people from its sensing so it was not by set off by those people. It was the only known type of warning Fabrial.{{ref|b|twok|i|4}}
