'''Atium''' is a [[God Metal]]. Pure Atium has not been seen, in the books what they call "Atium" is actually an atium-electrum alloy. An Allomancer burning atium-electrum alloy is able to see into the future by a few seconds. Feruchemists can use atium-electrum to store youthfulness, and when used as a Hemalurgic spike, atium steals any property or power Though it is unknown if this is pure atium or not. An atium-electrum [[Misting]] is known as a '''Seer'''. Burning atium-electrum allows the user to see a few seconds into the future, by producing atium shadows of everything in sight. These shadows perform future actions. Burning atium-electrum expands the user's mind to be able to accept and process all of the information, even allowing the Allomancer to dodge incoming attacks from behind. [[Harmony]] speculates that atium-elecrum makes the Allomancer burning it a more efficient killer because it draws upon Ruin's power.{{epigraph ref|mb3|78}}

Atium shadows, while hard to beat, are not impossible. The most common way to fight effectively against a Seer is by using another atium-electrum Allomancer, as when two Allomancers burn atium-electrum at the same time, the shadows they see will split into a multitude of possibilities, as a positive feedback loop is created by each person trying to predict a future the other has just changed. This effect will also occur when fighting against an [[electrum]] Allomancer, due to the nature of that metal's ability. It would also be possible to best a Seer by Compounding steel. While a steel Compounder would not be able to move faster than an atium-electrum Allomancer can predict, they could potentially move faster than the Seer is able to process the information they are gaining through their abilities.{{wob ref|244}} It is possible to defeat an atium-electrum Allomancer by using their reactions to the future against them, but is only known to have happened once.{{book ref|mb2|47}}

Burning [[duralumin]] with atium-electrum will allow Allomancers to see farther into the future, by allowing them to peer into the [[Spiritual Realm]].{{book ref|mb3|81}}{{msh ref|6|9}}{{wob ref|3610}} The same effect can occur if a Hemalurgist has enough spikes enhancing their atium-electrum.{{wob ref|3610}} Aluminum objects do not generate atium shadows.{{wob ref|6870}} Atium-electrum does not enable a person to anticipate emotional Allomancy.{{wob ref|9038}}

An Allomantic atium-electrum savant can sense atium shadows even if they are blind.{{wob ref|4072}}

Atium-electrum, when used by a Feruchemist, stores youthfulness. When storing youthfulness, the Feruchemist spends time older. When tapping youthfulness, the Feruchemist then spends time younger.

An atium-electrum [[Compounding|Compounder]] would be able to use atium-electrum to have a nearly infinite supply of youth, allowing for practical immortality.{{book ref|mb1|epilogue}}{{wob ref|5264}}

When used as a Hemalurgic spike, atium is like a wild card.{{wob ref|5971}} Depending on where it is placed, it can steal any power (i.e., the ability to use an Invested Art, such as Allomancy or [[sand mastery]]){{wob ref|14896}} and it does so better than other spikes.{{wob ref|5971}} Atium must be refined to be used in Hemalurgy, and it is possible that this means that this is an effect only pure Atium will have is uncertain.{{file ref|Hemalurgy table.jpg|Hemalurgy Table}}

Pure Atium may also be alloyed with any of the other Allomatic metals. However the only currently known atium alloysalloy areis [[malatium]], an atium-gold alloy. And an unnamed alloy with electrum which is what most "atium" is actually. These alloys grant various expanded mental and temporal effects when burned.{{wob ref|4615}}

As atium is a God Metal, it does not form naturally. The metal only came to exist when [[Preservation]] stole a chunk of Ruin's power and created the Pits of Hathsin, where atium-electrum grows in crystals, to deny Ruin's access to part of his power. During the Final Empire, atium-electrum is classified as one of the two high metals along with gold and was thought to be only accessible to [[Allomancy|Mistborn]]. However, atium-electrum mistings did exist. Due to the scarcity of atium-electrum and the [[Lord Ruler]]'s intended misleading,{{wob ref|8037}} such existence was unknown to most people until the exception of [[Aradan Yomen]] occurred. The [[Steel Ministry]] sometimes blended atium-electrum into food during a ball, to find out hidden atium-electrum mistings.{{wob ref|6119}} These people were used to make [[Steel Inquisitors]] or put to other uses.{{wob ref|8038}}

In actuality, the atium-electrum mistings were not natural. Supposedly, there are only sixteen kinds of Mistings, one for each kind of basic metal. But Preservation altered this as a part of his plan to defeat Ruin, though it is possible that this has been retconned and all atium-electrum mistings were just [[Augurs]]. The atium-electrum Mistings served as a way to burn away Ruin's power without being affected so much by the destructive [[Shard|intent]]. Also, when the [[mist]]s started to snap people, sixteen percent of them became [[Mistfallen]], whom were later found out to be atium-electrum mistings.

After the [[Catacendre]], Sazed changed the Allomantic table back to normal and atium-electrum Mistings no longer exist. though it is possible that this has been retconned and that no alterations were needed.{{cite}}

During the time of the [[Final Empire]], atium-electrum could only be mined at the [[Pits of Hathsin]], run by the nobles of [[House Venture]]. Several days before the fall of the Final Empire, because of [[Kelsier]]'s second visit to the Pits, the atium mine is destroyed.

After the [[Catacendre]], it is likely that atium-electrum still grows somewhere due to the fact that the crystals grow back, but nothing is known about it.{{wob ref|5347}}{{book ref|mb1|33}}
