'''Lin Davar''' is a lighteyed [[Veden]] on [[Roshar]].
 
He was first married to [[Shallan's mother]]. Together, the two of them had [[Helaran]], [[Balat]], [[Wikim]], [[Jushu]], and [[Shallan]]. When Shallan was eleven, he walked into his wife and her friend trying to kill Shallan for being a [[surgebinder]]. He managed to cut the friend, but eventually got pinned down as Shallan used her [[shardblade]] to kill both her mother and her mother's friend. Lin let everyone believe he'd killed his wife in order to protect Shallan, but the secret drove him to becoming violent and volatile.{{book ref|sa2|88}}
He sired [[Balat Davar|Balat]], [[Wikim Davar|Wikim]], [[Jushu Davar|Jushu]], [[Shallan Davar|Shallan]], and the late [[Helaran Davar|Helaran]]. He was first married to [[Shallan's mother]], but after her death he remarried to [[Malise Gevelmar]]. It was around this time that he became a more violent and volitaile person, especially with his family.
 
From notes and maps found after his death and from letters he was receiving Balat surmised that his father was making a play for the title of high prince, and was supported by some powerful men, namely the [[Ghostbloods]].{{book ref|sa1|29}}
 
After her death he remarried to [[Malise Gevelmar]]. He beat her, his sons, an the servants in the house. The only person he never touched was Shallan, instead beating others in her name when he felt she deserved it.{{book ref|sa2|61}} This culminated in his murder of Malise when he learned of her plan to run away. He would've likely killed Balat and [[Eylita]] as well, but Shallan poisoned him with [[blackbane]] and then strangled him before he could.{{book ref|sa2|73}}
Shallan believes he might have been a member of the Ghostbloods.
 
HeAfter his death, his children found he owned a [[soulcaster]] and a collection of maps which his childrenthey could not understand.{{book ref|sa1|8}}
Near the end of ''[[The Way of Kings]]'', Shallan admits to having killed her father after discovering that he had murdered his second wife, [[Malise Gevelmar]].
 
He was somehow influenced by [[Odium]].{{wob ref|6201}}
 
He owned a collection of maps which his children could not understand.{{book ref|sa1|8}}
