Help?

Hi, I've gotten my account and for some reason I can't create my user page. It just says 'There is currently no text in this page. You can search for this page title in other pages, or search the related logs, but you do not have permission to create this page.' Bands of Mourning

I know the book was released only just in the past week, but how would one go about making the link to Bands of Mourning in the infobox unitalicised - I feel the compulsive need to correct that. Thank's for the query, which infobox do you mean? because I can't think of any that haven't been changed but we may have missed one. The problem I think is that the cache is very sticky, so you're probably seeing the old version of the template. --Joe ST (talk) 03:29, 30 January 2016 (MST)

Category Splinter

Regarding Places Category

Hello.

I realized soon after I made the change on the Alendel page that it hadn't worked out as I'd hoped, but I'm not exactly sure why. The Category:Places Category was removed by Chaos, to be replaced with Category:Locations, and I was trying to get rid of a redlink category. However, when I swapped around the word 'Place' with 'Location', it didn't work. Is there any way you would suggest that we can get rid of the redlink category?

Hey, it's great to see you editing. That's because you didn't change a category ([[Category: places]]) you changed the template ({{place}}), which automatically adds Category: Locations. Spren and Character Templates

I had a question on templates Specifically Spren info and Character templates. lets start with Spren info is there a way to make it so that it can identify Spren that have gain sentience(i.e. syl) as opposed to Spren like Flame spren and Rain spren. the reason for this is that these Spren are Splinters so I want them in the Splinter category and I was hoping that the info box would be the best way to do that and it leaves the pages less cluttered.

So the Character template may just be a confusion on my part but each person in the Cosmere would have this set of identifiers race(i.e. human, listerner etc), homeworld, local world ethnicity, current local political affiliation or nationality. It seems to me that Character template is not Set up to divide these and place them in the appropriate sub categories. Am I just not understanding how it works? an example is if I put a persons home world as Roshar it should Identity them as Rosharan on the page and add them to this subcategory. As it sits I kind of does some of it it adds Roshar and maybe stating Rosharan is redundant but it should make them a part of that sub category either way right. I do not know enough about templates to edit one like this yet so until I know what I'm doing I'm not going to. However if you are able to change the template I can track down the pages to update them though most would be fixed immediately for the home world. I hope that made sense. The spren info box is going to be depreciated and these two types will go in either Lifeforms or Characters, respectively. I'm not sure what you are referring to with the second point, because it does add these templates directly, doesn't it? Everything that is a character has a world parameter and Rosharan is always added there automatically. Do you see an example where it does not? -- Chaos2651 (talk) 19:22, 18 June 2015 (MDT)

Cool then spren info is obsolete. As for the character template I can not remember/find what page I was using to edit the other day but i double checked and it does add the Rosharan category. I think maybe that page was telling me that that it does not have an ethnicity or nationality tag. If you give a character an world tag of Shadesmar what categories would that put it in? Would ethnicity (i.e. Cryptic)be the best place for the Splinter category to be attached to? I just changed a lot of infoboxes. Can you make sure that everything is tagged correctly? I'm not as familiar with the tags that this wiki is using. One thing that I may suggest is that the Category:Surgebinders and Category:Surgebinding be merged into one tag; I don't see the value in having two different tags, and currently, some characters are categorized one tag while others are under the other. Editing and adding refrences

How do you add a number reference source for a page currently I can only use existing ones. Also How do I identify the current ones?

Creating user pages

I've noticed in your user page you have links to pages that you are working on and not ready to post or pages listing things you mean to look at/edit in the future. How does one go about making a user page for themself? Or is that an administrator specific ability?

Gas Giants of the Greater Roshar

So, your latest edit in Greater Roshar removed the individual list entries of the ten gas giants. I know that the Rosharan gas giants are boring and that their names are basically just numbers from one to ten, so I understand the urge to summarize them into a single sentence the way you did, but I believe it is more encyclopedic to name all the planets of the system in the article, not just the noteworthy ones. (There's also the personal reason that I spent time tediously forming that section so I prefer it not to be radically abridged, but that's a minor point.) Skaa (talk) 10:33, 30 November 2016 (MST)

I'd prefer if it were maybe less abridged, by stating that they're named after the Vorin numbers (at least they're named that in the context of the star chart) but having ten lines of ;name: this is another gas giant named after a herald isn't useful and actually distracts from the information 'there are ten gas giants on distant orbits' and doesn't really leave space for the stuff about them being far away and whatever that WoB about them is. that's my arguments/opinion anyway --Joe ST (talk) 12:26, 30 November 2016 (MST)

Alright. I edited it to mention the Vorin numbers. I'll need to find the WoB regarding them being too far away to be seen from Roshar. Khriss says that the gas giants have a minor manifestation on Shadesmar, but that doesn't mean they (or at least some of them) aren't visible to the naked eye from Roshar, at least as points of light (the same way we can see Jupiter and Saturn from Earth). --Skaa (talk) 21:10, 30 November 2016 (MST)

here is a page about what else needs doing in Warbreaker if you want to continue with that book. The Stubs are those that need the most work, lots of raw content missing from them. The partials are anything between somewhat fleshed out to quite extensive. If you think you have added all there is to know about an article you should change the {{stub}} or {{partial}} at the bottom to {{complete}} which lets us know you want us to review it for completeness, and you should feel free to move {{stub}} to {{partial}} when you do as much as you have been doing with those articles.

You can also check out similar pages for the other stories in that navbox at the bottom of that page. If you fancy chatting with people about the wikiying you're doing etc, feel free to come by the chat room!
