Great Transfersion refers to an act performed by Steelheart at the beginning of his reign in Newcago. It was a grand display of his Epic Transfersion ability that transformed non-living dense (i.e. solid or liquid) material into steel. It transformed most of the old Chicago, including a portion of Lake Michigan, and reached dozens, or possibly hundreds of feet down into the ground. During early years of his reign, Steelheart made his Diggers carve out several levels of understreets in the steel. Presumably, this was part of his ploy to make people fear him, negating his weakness.
