Contributing and communicating

Hey Blaze.

Thanks for joining and contributing, I can't wait to see what you do :D.

Regarding figuring out who's editing what we don't really have enough contributors for their edits to clash, but if you are aiming to do a serious rewrite of an article someone else is also editing lots, then you can create a sub-page under your userpage (for example User:Blaze1616/Hallandren) and change it there. You can always do this anyway but most of the time, and especially for smaller edits, then just edit in place. It's a good way of editing and then asking for input/review, but again our editor number is so low that you probably won't get huge input, though the staff (me, Weiry, Windy, Eric) tend to come online daily and look at the edits (or at least I do, and I'm guessing Weiry does too).

Change away, and if you have any questions or comments (or suggestions about how to make things easier) about the editing process or anything feel free to ask.

Welcome to the wiki, I hope you enjoy many a year here :D

Oh and FYI you can add an automatically generated signature with --~~~~ --Joe ST (talk) 17:50, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
I'd like to echo Joe and say welcome to the Coppermind! Joe hit all the big things I think (and I do check pretty much every edit, I almost always have the recent changes open in a tab). I notice you plan on working on the Warbreaker page, citing its lack of organization. Luckily (or perhaps it's less luck than the fact that it really has to happen now) I'm working on a style guide (or at least I will be tomorrow) to help you out with that.--WeiryWriter (talk) 01:26, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the welcome. I would greatly appreciate a style guide if one will be rolling out. There is no sense in performing heavy edits when you'll just have to edit it again later. I had found the style guide-ish page yesterday while browsing, but it didn't contain all that much. Thanks again! --Blaze1616 (talk) 14:44, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
P.S., if responding to a comment on my talk page, is it preferred to respond on my talk page as well, or go to the other person's talk page, like I did here? Just something that would be good to know.
It's usually easier to reply in the same place as the thing you're replying too, especially since we tend to check all edits and see that things have been added. Feel free to do your edits prior to a style guide as we tend to prefer having the content for people to read from than having it all formatted the same. Thanks :D --Joe ST (talk) 15:08, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
Noted, thanks. --Blaze1616 (talk) 17:22, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
I've moved this conversation here, just to keep everything in one place. And I did get a good chunk of the style guide done today so I'll try typing it up. I'll have to speak with the other admins about finalizing it though.--WeiryWriter (talk) 19:33, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
Take your time. I'm not certain as to when I'll be able to start my reread, though I am hopeful it will be soon. I guess the point I am trying to say is to not hurry on my behalf. --Blaze1616 (talk) 20:18, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

Reverting your family mergers

hey Blaze, I just went through and reverted your latest set of edits where you added |merge-family=y to a bunch of articles with lots of family entries? I made that setting to remove the 'inner table' on pages with only single 'family' rows, but until we decide other-wise (given your dislike for the inner table, maybe others don't like it either?) we'd rather they stay like they were. If you have an issue with their relative size/shape or their formatting (like maybe the table needs a better border to make it more distinct?) then we can fiddle with that instead --Joe ST (talk) 07:44, 25 June 2015 (MDT)

Oh, my apologies then. I hadn't realized there was a reason for not merging the borders. I was only doing it because my OCD gland was itching. Thanks for letting me know! --Blaze1616 (talk) 08:06, 25 June 2015 (MDT)
No need to apologise, I haven't really documented that and it's kinda magical and there's no policy about it, so it's not your fault XD. We really could do with some help figuring out what that part should look like, and whether there are any other parts of {{character}} or other infoboxes that can benefit from being grouped more distinctly. And also how they should look to look good and distinct and stuff --Joe ST (talk) 08:12, 25 June 2015 (MDT)
I'd be happy to partake in discussions regarding infoboxes. I just need to know where they are happening, and, if real-time conversation is preferred, when. --Blaze1616 (talk) 08:24, 25 June 2015 (MDT)
Indeed, I also need to figure out where/when/how these kindsa discussion will/should take place XD --Joe ST (talk) 08:40, 25 June 2015 (MDT)
