History
Iyatil's origins are something of a mystery. One thing is clear, she and her people, whoever they might be, have a complex history.

On Roshar
When Shallan Davar meets with Mraize for the first time in the Ghostblood safe house beneath Sebarial's warcamp, Iyatil is there. Her appearance makes Shallan uncomfortable, and when she leaves, Iyatil follows her. Using some Lightweaving, Shallan manages to hide in an alcove and escape from Iyatil.

Later Iyatil is present again when Shallan meets with Mraize to give her report on what she found in Meridas Amaram's home.sa2 Iyatil holds Mraize's blowgun, collects his kills, and serves mulled orange wine.

Appearance & Personality
The most distinctive aspect of Iyatil's appearance is indubitably her mask. It is made of red-orange carapace from an unidentified creature and arranged in a mosaic-like pattern that appears like a face with eyebrows and an expression of anger.sa2 This mask is tied tightly to her face and is never removed. In fact, the skin on her face seems to have begun to grow around the edges of the mask. The mask leaves Iyatil's mouth and chin uncovered. The reason for this unusual behavior has yet to be given.

The rest of Iyatil's appearance is far less noteworthy. She wears simple dark brown shirt and trousers with an intricate carapace belt, and occasionally a black cloak when she is attempting to go about unnoticed. Iyatil's beady eyes are dark and her skin is tan. She is a short woman who could easily be mistaken for a boy, especially because she does not cover her safehand.
