During this time, Adonalsium created the entire [[Rosharan system]] and grew the supercontinent on the planet [[Roshar]]; as a result, the continent is shaped like the two-dimensional projection of a [[wikipedia: Julia set|Julia set]].{{wob ref|9283}}{{wob ref|3953}} Interestingly, [[fabrial]]s could have existed on Roshar during this time, if Adonalsium had allowed them, but he had some sort of limits on the system that would have prevented it.{{wob ref|13333}}
Most of the planets in the cosmere existed and were named prior to the Shattering, and their names existed before the Shards got there.{{wob ref|7262}} The sole known exception is [[Scadrial]], which was created by [[Ruin]] and [[Preservation]], who used the non-fain parts of Yolen as a guide.{{au ref|Scadrial}}{{msh ref|3|2}} [[Investiture]] also existed prior to the Shattering, though its form was different.{{wob ref|1118}} The technology level on Yolen prior to the Shattering was less than present
During the time before the Shattering, there was a plot to destroy Adonalsium, but it failed.{{wob ref|2648}}
