Ruling in mythic years, earthquales kept the land together, with their might and strength they were the pillars in the cavernous undergrounds that, without their presense in the modern day, cracked and splintered to form the Shattered Plains. Without their presense much of Roshar's landscape changed and the Highstorms ravaged where once the mighty earthquales kept them at bay.
 
Their downfall is a mystery, but it is said [[Bacon]] may have played a fundamental role in their demise. Earthquales were greatly tempted by Bacon's offering of succulent treats and many travelled to [[Shadesmar]], never returning to Roshar. For they had tasted the bacon, and it was good. Bacon.
