The Coup of Urteau is a major event in the history of Scadrial, occurring after the Battle of Luthadel.

Importance of Urteau

Urteau contained one of the Lord Ruler's storage caverns, with supplies and knowledge of electrum and the location of next cache. It was one of the most important cities in the empire. It was within staging distance of Luthadel. It was also one of the more profitable cities in the empire.

Seizing Power

After the fall of the Final Empire, Quellion (the Citizen) seized power in Urteau. He claimed that anyone faithful to the Survivor would be safe in the mists. A law was made which required everyone to go into the [mist]s. He declared that those who survived were pure. Then, they began to kill nobles and those who had noble blood.

Events

When Vin and Elend discovered that there was a storage cavern in Urteau, Vin snuck into the cavern. Elend sent Spook to the city to gather information about the Citizen and his government. At an execution, Spook fought several of Quellion's soldiers. During the fight, he used a Thug as a shield, ending up spiked. Elend sent Sazed, Breeze, and Allrianne to Urteau to bring it back under the control of the New Empire.

My summary: Final execution, rebellion. Spook removes spike, frees canals (Sazed's engineering), fires put out. Their plan.

Spook, Sazed and Breeze try to reason with Quellion, but decide to take him down instead RESULTS OF REASONING?. They attempt to incite a revolution, but discover that they have been playing into the hands of Ruin, who has been subtly influencing both Spook and Quellion via Hemalurgic spikes. Spook manages to remove the spikes. A fire breaks out, threatening to destroy the town, but Spook floods the Canals, saving the city.

Importance of Urteau

Urteau was the capital city of the Northern Dominance in the Final Empire.^{[Falta cita]} It was situated along the canals, allowing it to control shipments of merchandise.^{[Falta cita]} It was known for its "streetslots," dried up canals that served as streets.

The Lord Ruler redirected the canals' water to the city's storage cavern. This caused the canals to dry out but ensured a fresh water supply for the cavern.^{[Falta cita]}

I started working on an article that had the attention tag on it. However, I just looked at the spreadsheet and @Ark1002#6883 has claimed it. (Coup of Urteau). I sent a Shard PM. Any advice? Feel free to reply on here if you see this, although this is mostly a draft.

See if they come back to you over the Shard, but if they don't, I think it would be fine for you to work on it - I don't think Ark was able to get around to working on the page (though they might have notes on Google Drive/Word/Elsewhere that they might want to pass on?) and they haven't been active here in a year.
