During the hordeling battle on the shores of Aimia, prior to swearing the Third Ideal of the Windrunners, [[Lopen]] asks [[Rua]] if Phendorana was at fault for the failure of his previous attempts to swear the Third Ideal using the same wording as [[Kaladin]] and [[Teft]]. {{book ref|sa3.5|17}} Based on his subsequent successful swearing, it is implied that it was not Phendorana, but Lopen's need for personal growth, that kept the Ideal from being accepted.
