After Spook saves the city from destruction, in the middle of him waking up, Kelsier is able to communicate with him. He gives encouragement and praise, but mostly explains Vin has a spike and is hearing Ruin.{{msh ref|6|6}}. He sends a message saying “Don’t trust anyone pierced by metal. Spook’s letter. Even the smallest bit can taint a man.” [[Goradel ]] offers to take it; it was written on a metal sheet.{{book ref|mb3|58}}{{book ref|mb3|64}} It was intercepted by Marsh who was being physically controlled by Ruin, but could still think on his own, upon reading it he figures out it is Vin’s earring the metal piece where Ruin is controlling her and uses his last will to take it out setting her free.{{book ref|mb3|72}}

 

After the [[Final Ascension]], goes into the new world created by [[Sazed]], and finds the bodies of Vin and Elend, along with the [[Words of Founding]]. [[Sazed]] also left a special [[Sazed's note|note]] for him, telling Spook that he had tried to bring Vin and Elend back, but couldn't, explaining that he had healed the damage Spook had done to himself by flaring tin and had made Spook a Mistborn, and hinting at the existence of more Allomantic metals.{{book ref|mb3|epilogue}}
