It is been theorized that [[Seon]]s are Splinters, and Brandon has said this line of theorizing is very close to being correct.{{ref|?|700|1|Are Seons Splinters of Aona?}}
It is not clear how Splinters are formed, though it appears a Shard must actively create one.
Endowment seems to be able to form them at will for [[Returned]].
[[Odium]] traveled to Sel and Splintered [[Devotion]] and [[Dominion]].{{ref|a|The Letter}}
Since [[Odium]] killed [[Tanavast]],{{ref|b|twok|c|75}} the holder of [[Honor]], it has been theorized that Honor is Splintered as well.
