Very powerful soothing can put an hemalurgic creature under complete control, and once controlled, the soothing is no longer required. This can be achieved by one person ([[Mistborn]] or a [[hemalurgy|Hemalurgist]]) burning [[duralumin]] and brass together, a combination of [[nicrosil|Nicroburst]] and Soother, or a group of Soothers and/or Rioters. After the [[Catacendre]], it is unlawful for a business to use Soothers to influence customers.{{book ref|mb5|14}} This was one of the provisions of the [[Allomantic Agreement of '94]]. There is evidence of consensual emotional counselling.{{book ref|mb4|2}}
