The '''First Gem''' is a topaz with magical properties{{wob ref|5301}} that [[Hoid]] carries and from which he took his name for a while.{{wob ref|6065}} It was first named in the [[Letters|Second Oathbringer Letter]] when the author (presumed to be [[Autonomy]] or [[Patji (being)|Patji]]) addressed Hoid as "Cephandrius, bearer of the First Gem." Hoid is currently trying to restore the gem from the dead, and was cautioned against doing so by [[Frost]] in [[Letters|The Second Letter]] in [[Words of Radiance]].
