Moash becomesbecame involved in a plot with [[Graves]] to assassinate Elhokar Kholin, which iswas ultimately thwarted by Kaladin. Moash takestook thehis swordPlate and plateBlade with him when heand fleesfled the war campswarcamps with Graves after their failed attempt, and considers himself a traitor for having tried to kill Kaladin. After deserting, Moash, and GravesThey head out into the wilderness with a caravan of stolen goods. Graves intended to introduce Moash to the [[Diagram (group}|Diagram]], hoping that bringing back a full Shardbearer could compensate for his plan's failure. A short while into the trip, thethey arewere attacked by a group of [[Fused]]. Graves was killed, and Moash attemptsattempted to fight with his Shardblade, but deemsdeemed it too unwieldy. He utilizesgot hold of a spear and his training to kill akilled memberone of the Fused. As the Fused group saw this, they gained respect for him, sparing his life and making him a slave.
 
Upon seeing this, the other Fused considered Moash to have enough "passion" to earn their respect, and gave him the choice between death and slavery. He chose slavery, gave up his Shards and his other weapons, and went with them.
