Elhokar Kholinwas is a [[Shardbearer]], whose Shards were won for him by his uncle, [[Dalinar Kholin]].

His [[Shardplate]] iswas painted gold and his [[Shardblade]] iswas called Sunraiser.

Despite his own uncertainty in his ability to rule, Elhokar iswas capable of making decisive action and still manages to control the [[Highprinces]], if just barely.

He iswas also a capable warrior, despite being easily defeated by his uncle.

Son of [[Navani]] and [[Gavilar Kholin]], nephew of [[Dalinar Kholin]], sister of [[Jasnah Kholin]], and cousin of both [[Adolin]] and [[Renarin Kholin]].

Elhokar is a minor character in the Way of Kings, and mainly serves as an unwitting obstacle to [[Dalinar Kholin]] as his uncle attemptsattempted to unite the [[HighprincesHighprince]]s.

Elhokar's father and the former King of [[Alethkar]], [[Gavilar]] iswas assassinated by [[Szeth]], prompting the now 'King Elhokar' and the ten [[Alethi]] [[Highprince]]s to declare war on the [[Parshendi]] under the [[Vengeance Pact]], after they claimed responsibility for the assassination.

Due to Elhokar's youth and paranoia his ability to rule iswas questioned by those under his rule and he maintainsmaintained a weakened authority over the ten [[Highprinces]].

Elhokar's paranoia stemsstemmed from the assassination of his father and he fearsfeared that he willwould meet the same fate, although he overcompensatesovercompensated on the battlefield and often actsacted recklessly to the dismay of his family and guards.

This paranoia iswas furthered by his ability to see strange creatures (possibly [[symbolspren]]) in mirrors.

Elhokar's deep fear of assassination causescaused him to fake an assassination attempt on his own life by cutting the girth strap on his saddle, in order to trigger an investigation on those who wish him dead.
