'''Calamity''' is a mysterious and seemingly all-powerful Epic which arrived in orbit of [[Earth (Reckoners)|Earth]] exactly one year before [[Epic]]s appeared.{{book ref|Steelheart|prologue}}

 

 

Calamity appears as a glowing red star in the sky, though he has been seen as a red man with wings in the sky by Regalia in a telescope.

He sometime goes undercover as the epic Larcener, part of the Coven. David and Megan and a reedeemed Prof stop him when they figure out his weakness, which is that mankind isn't a monstrous race, but good at heart. Calamity then faded away. He is possibly dead.
