Balat was the second son of [[Shallan'sLin fatherDavar|LordLin Davar]], his mother was dead. He had four siblings: [[Helaran]], [[Tet Wikim|Wikim]], [[Asha Jushu|Jushu]] and [[Shallan]]. After Nan Helaran, Balat's eldest brother, disappeared and was proclaimed dead by their father, Balat gained the title 'Nan'.
