Aprovechándose de su viaje, que fue más rápido, la banda llegó a las montañas mucho antes que Edwarn y sus hombres, ya que estos seguían escalando a través de la nieve. Localizaron el templo gracias al cuaderno de Marasi, y Wax se aventuró dentro, procediendo con precaución después de que encontrara los restos diseminados de antiguos cazadores de tesoros que habían estado allí antes que él. Haciendo uso de la casi-invencibilidad de MeLaan, Allik y él atravesaron lentamente el antiguo sistema de seguridad del templo, activando las trampas de forma segura, las cuales habrían matado a cualquier otro grupo de intrusos.{{book ref|mb6|23}}
Taking advantage of their more efficient form of travel, Wax's group arrived on the mountain peaks soundly before Edwarn and his men could complete their slow climb through the snow. Locating the temple from Marasi's notebook, Wax ventured inside, proceeding with caution after he encountered the scattered remains of treasure hunters who had been there before him. Making grand use of MeLaan's nigh-invincibility, Wax and Allik worked slowly through the temple's ancient security system, safely triggering traps that would have spelled certain death for any other group of trespassers.{{book ref|mb6|23}}
 
Se detuvieron al encontrar una puerta inscrita con una escritura que ninguno de ellos podía descifrar, así que Wax volvió a la entrada del templo, donde Steris, Marasi y Wayne habían retenido a Edwarn a punta de pistola; su expedición acababa de llegar al templo. Edwarn afirmó conocer el secreto para abrir la puerta final del templo y amenazó a Wax, pues tenía una fuerza arrolladora de alomantes y matones rodeando el templo que no dudarían en matar a cualquiera de los miembros de su lamentable grupo a no ser de que les permitiera unirse en la búsqueda de los Brazales.{{book ref|mb6|25}} Llegaron a la última cámara del templo, que no contenía los Brazales, y Wax se encontró de repente en un duelo armado con Telsin, de quien sospechaba que era un topo del Grupo. Ambos hermanos dispararon a la vez; su bala se volvió loca y falló; pero el tiro de Telsin alcanzó a Wax justo debajo del cuello. Unas cuantas balas después, este cayó a una zanja que se encontraba debajo de donde se suponía que debían haber estado los Brazales.{{book ref|mb6|26}} Dejando un rastro de sangre y debilitándose más por cada segundo que pasaba, Edwarn encontró a Wax al poco tiempo, revelando que ahora era un alomante gracias a sus clavos hemalúrgicos. Edwarn activo cruelmente otra de las trampas del templo, que hizo que se colapsara el techo y este cayera aplastando el cuerpo ya herido de Wax, enterrándolo bajo una rigurosa avalancha de escombros. Aturdido, Wax se vio forzado a observar sin poder hacer nada cómo su tío se acercaba, le quitaba su pistola y pretendía rematarlo. Cuando Wayne llegó para tratar de rescatarlo y se echó a llorar al verlo, Wax utilizó su último aliento para decirle a su amigo que siguiera con su vida y continuara luchando. Al no ser capaz de aguantar aquello más tiempo, Waxillium Ladrian murió.{{book ref|mb6|27}}
Halted by a door which was inscribed with writing that none of them could decipher, Wax returned to the entrance of the temple, where Steris, Marasi, and Wayne held Edwarn at gunpoint; his expedition had arrived at the temple just before Wax's return. Edwarn claimed to know the secret to opening the temple's final door and threatened Wax that he had an overwhelming force of Allomancers and goons surrounding the temple who would not hesitate to kill every member of Wax's pitiful group, unless he was allowed to join them in collecting the Bands.{{book ref|mb6|25}} When the temple's last chamber proved to be missing the Bands, Wax suddenly found himself in an armed standoff with Telsin, who he had rightly suspected to be a mole for the Set. Both siblings fired at once; Wax's bullet went wild and missed, but Telsin's shot hit Wax just below the neck. A number of bullets later, Wax fell into a pit below the Bands' supposed resting chamber.{{book ref|mb6|26}} Trailing blood and weakening by the moment, Wax was soon tracked down by Edwarn, now fully revealed as an Allomancer, by way Hemalurgic spikes. Edwarn cruelly triggered another of the temple's traps, which collapsed the roof and crushed Wax's already wounded body under a punishing avalanche of rubble. In a daze, Wax was forced to watch helplessly as his uncle approached, unholstering his pistol and intent on finishing him off. When Wayne arrived to attempt his rescue and broke down at the sight of him, Wax used his remaining breath to tell his friend to go on living and keep fighting. No longer able to hold on, Waxillium Ladrian died.{{book ref|mb6|27}}
