Alanik and Arturo join the battle, and Quilan demands that she surrender. Alanik hears him telling the Superiority that they have the humans and to come and get them. The Unity cytonics get the inhibitor up, and a Superiority battleship appears, weapons aimed at Tower. Jorgen and Rinakin start a broadcast to the people of ReDawn, telling them of Unity’s deception. Alanik chases Quilan and kills him with her destructors. Another cytonic is shot down, getting rid of the inhibitor. Rig teleports the platform close to the battleship, letting the autoturrets destroy it. A varvax cytonic hyperjumps onto Wandering Leaf and Alanik follows. It hurries towards the command room and Rig, but at Rig’s cry for help Boomslug attacked the varvax, causing it to flee.

;Plot Summary
With their cytonics shot down and Quilan dead, the Unity pilots retreat as Rinakin continues to broadcast to the UrDail people. Arturo and Alanik talk after the battle about her killing Quilan. Cobb calls them, and Jorgen gives him an update. He tells them to return to Detritus and to bring some of the UrDail officials with them. Jorgen thinks Cobb is acting strangely, and they realize that its an imposter posing as Cobb. They end the call, and decide they need to contact Jeshua. Alanik calls through the nowhere to Gran Gran, who is being handed over to the Superiority, and is on a Superiority ship. Alanik warns her of the trap, but Gran-Gran doesn’t think they’ll listen to her.
Alanik senses a box of taynix on the ship, and reaches out to the commslug there, activating it. Jorgen speaks to his parents, who don’t believe him that its a trap. They end the communication and hyperjump Wandering Leaf to a point outside Detritus.

;Plot Summary
Alanik and Jorgen hyperjump to Detritus’ command center and grabb the fake Cobb, then teleport to Snide, a slug who is on the Superioirty ship where Gran-Gran, Jeshua, and the other politicians are. Gran-Gran gets taken to a holding cell where Cobb and Cuna are, communicating cytonically with Alanik. Jorgen chases off after his parents to show them the fake Cobb and convince them that its a trap, and Alanik realizes that the Superiority operatives are evacuating the ship. She goes to the center of the ship and finds a boomslug-operated bomb thats rigged to blow up the ship. Alanik fetches Rig, who doesn’t know how to disarm the bomb and says it’ll explode if tampered with. Jorgen reports cytonically that Jeshua and Algernon, along with other human politicians, are in a locked room that’s cytonically inhibited.
Alanik finds the holding cells where Gran-Gran, Cobb, and Cuna are held, but the area is cytonically inhibited. Alanik finds the inhibitor slug and pulls it out, deactivating the inhibitor in the room. At Alanik’s order, Gran-Gran hyperjumps herself and Cobb away and off the ship. Alanik uses Snide to deposit Cuna at Wandering Leaf, then runs to find Jorgen. Jorgen’s parents, along with many members of the National Assembly, are trapped inside a large room with all the doors locked and impossible to break down. Jorgen and Alanik can see the politicians through a reinforced pane of glass. A member of the Superiority comes over the loudspeaker and announces their imminent deaths. Alanik and Jorgen try to find the inhibitor slug, but can’t find it. Jeshua manages to make herself heard to Jorgen through the glass, telling him to go and do better than she and her colleagues did. Out of time and realizing that they won’t be able to save the politicians, Alanik pulls herself and Jorgen back to Wandering Leaf.
