;Summary

Jax rushes out into the open and tries to convince Languish to stop dampening Wingflare, as soon Lux is going to fall completely. Languish refuses, saying that he won’t be a slave anymore. Jax punches him in the face, knocking him to the ground. Wingflare gets her powers back as Languish drops. She flies away, powers restored, and Lux stops falling. Jax tells the others that he’s going after Wingflare, and tells Wade to re-establish the connection to the Wingflare motivator. Jax shows them the shockwave motivator, and says that breaking Wingflare’s bones with it should engage her weakness and allow him to kill her. They arrive at the edge of Lux, where Wingflare’s compound is. It consists of about a dozen state capitol buildings, which float a long ways out from the edge of Lux. In addition to the capitol buildings is the White House, where Wingflare lives. Trails of floating stones create bridges leading to each of the buildings, and since they are still miles above the earth, a fall means instant death. Jax and Paige decide to go forward despite the danger.
