Following the battle, Taravangian revealed to Dalinar that Kharbranth had been behind Szeth's murderous spree across Roshar.{{book ref|sa3|121}} He told Dalinar that he had sought out Szeth after Dova had approached Taravangian and warned him that the Desolation was approaching.{{book ref|sa3|121}} He also told Dalinar that about the ardent Dova and how he believed her to be the [[Herald]] [[Battah]]'Elin.{{book ref|sa3|121}} Later, Odium met with Taravangian during the Everstorm agreeing to spare Kharbranth and its citizens during the imminent war in exchange for the Diagram's loyalty.{{book ref|sa3|122}}
 
Despite strained relations, Kharbranth remained an ally of the Urithiru coalition,{{book ref|sa4|16}} however, frequently opposed the suggested military maneuvers that were suggested by the other members of the group.{{book ref|sa4|19}} During this time, Taravangian’sTaravangian's inner circle began to distance themselves from their leader and spend more time in Kharbranth, at Taravangian’sTaravangian's bequest. Following her father’s betrayal, the newly anointed Queen Savrahalidem condemned the former monarch’s actions and pulled the city from the alliance with Urithiru and Odium, declaring itself neutral in the global conflict. No longer tied to any party, Kharbranth reclaimed its mantle of offering medical aid to anyone in need. In response to the cut ties, Dalinar blockaded the sea near Kharbranth, however,but was unwilling to commit to a costly ground attack, which Queen SavraSavri had likely factored in to her decision when breakinhbreaking their alliance.{{book ref|sa4|50}}
