Rock joined the bridge crews in early 1173 and spent several months there before [[Kaladin]] was appointed his new bridgeleader.{{book ref|sa3|37}} The next morning when Kaladin claimed that Bridge Four would never lose another man, Rock laughed at Kaladin and refused to practice carrying the bridge.{{book ref|sa1|14}} Rock bet the other bridgemen a few chips that Kaladin was carrying a lightweight board to practice and was surprised when he was provedproven wrong. Later that day on a bridge run, Kaladin takestook Rock's place at the deathpoint of the bridge during the final approach.{{book ref|sa1|17}} Rock iswas surprised by Kaladin's decision, but acceptsaccepted. After the bridge has beenwas placed, Rock takestook shelter behind a rock formation. When Kaladin strugglesstruggled to save an injured [[Dabbid]], Rock followsfollowed and carriescarried the man back to shelter himself. He and Teft gowent out again to save a badly wounded [[Leyten]] as well. After Kaladin hashad treated them, Rock warnswarned Kaladin that injured bridgemen who cannotcould not walk must be left behind and that Gaz willwould not allow them to save Leyten and Dabbid.{{book ref|sa1|17}}

Later he offersoffered some of his food to feed the wounded and helpshelped Kaladin gather the antiseptic called [[knobweed|knobweed sap]].{{book ref|sa1|23}} They sellsold some of the knobweed sap they gathergathered, and with the money they gaingained they buybought supplies so Rock cancould cook for [[Bridge Four]]. After this, most of the bridgemen startstarted training with Kaladin.{{book ref|sa1|27}}

While Kaladin iswas recovering from being strung up in a [[highstorm]], Rock iswas made the bridgeleader of Bridge Four. However, the theycrew just start callingcalled Rock squadleader, and called Kaladin their captain. To thank him for his cooking, Bridge Four buysbought him a razor, to which made Rock actually growsgrow teary-eyed. He iswas very grateful for it,{{book ref|sa1|40}} and he startsstarted shaving the beards of all the members of the Bridge Four.{{book ref|sa1|43}}

After the Battle of [[Narak]], the members of Bridge Four gained the ability to Invest stormlight. Following Kaladin's departure to [[Hearthstone]], however, this ability iswas lost. Upon his return, [[Hobber]], Rock's assistant, iswas able to restore his Shardblade-cut legs and walk. Shortly after, they investigateinvestigated a pillar of smoke near [[Urithiru]]. The pillar iswas revealed to be flames from a [[Voidbringer]] attack on a caravan - a caravan whose uninjured members arewere revealed to be Rock's family: his wife, who is referred to as "Song", his son Gift, daughter Cord, son Rock (whowhom he notesnoted iswas named for a different kind of rock and tellstold Bridge four to call him Little Rock), a third son, Star, a daughter named Kuma'tiki (a kind of shell on the Horneater Peaks), and his last daughter, Beautiful Song. {{book ref|sa3|37}}
