== Location and Layout ==
Starsight is located some forty-odd light years from [[Detritus]], in the C4 region of the Superiority. The whole station is a vast, flat disc many kilometres long, larger than any Detritus city, with numerous skyscrapers and other buildings constructed on both its sides.{{book ref|sky2|9}}{{file ref|Starsight.jpg|Starsight view}}{{book ref|sky2|24}} A glowing blue bubble envelopes the entire structure, keeping the air and heat and, and allowing the inhabitants to live on the station's surface.{{book ref|sky2|9}} There's also a field suppressing [[cytonic]] abilities.{{book ref|sky2|10}} Apart from those two, there is also a protective shield, which can stop both physical objects and [[delver]]s from attacking.{{book ref|sky2|i|3}} It's possible that rather than being a separate entity, the protective shield is the same as the atmospheric shield.{{book ref|sky2|36}}
The city is divided into several -- at least seven -- sectors, and dotted with over a thousand berths for ships to dock in. Unlike the rest of the city, the docks are typically austere and comprised of large metal platforms, as well as necessary offices. Travelling across the sectors is a public transport network in the form of round platforms that float using [[acclivity ring]]s.{{book ref|sky2|10}}

The station proper is rich and lavishly decorated with greenery, with numerous parks full of tall trees and lawns of moss, and gardens at every corner.{{book ref|sky2|10}} Other than plant gardens, the city is also houses more exotic sites, like '''water gardens''' - stone plazas where gravity is manipulated to create shimmering spheres of water that float through the air. Notably, Starsight has the technology to make this change in gravity affect only water, and not any living beings or objects.{{book ref|sky2|28}}

Most of the buildings seem to be skyscrapers, constructed in various styles, with rows of colored blocks standing side by side with corkscrewing towers, though there are also shorter buildings, down to three stories high. On ground level, there are numerous shops, selling everything from clothing to food. Some of the structures are constructed out of metal, then painted to mimic the look of a more decorative material, such as bricks.{{book ref|sky2|10}} In fact, near-every civillian space, and most military ones, are adorned in some manner, mostly by painting them in various vivid colors.{{book ref|sky2|38}}
== Inhabitants ==
Starsight is home to millions of people, belonging to uncountable different species.{{book ref|sky2|10}}{{book ref|sky2|42}} Of the five Superiority leader races, the [[dione]]s and the [[varvax]] can be found in abundance, while the other three are few and far between.{{book ref|sky2|12}} Other than that, lesser species like [[burl]] and [[solquis]] are also present in large numbers.{{book ref|sky2|10}} As a result, Starsight's docking crews are equipped with gear for numerous different kinds of beings, including steps, ramps, slides and more.{{book ref|sky2|9}}{{book ref|sky2|10}} There are also care centers dotted around the city, which appear to be equivalents of schools of kindergardens for children of various species.{{book ref|sky2|18}}
Apart from spacefaring vessels, Starsight also possesses many atmospheric vehicles for local transport. Nonetheless, most people seem to prefer moving under their own power, and there are many roads and paths to accomodate them.{{book ref|sky2|10}}

Starsight is home to both the [[Department of Species Integration]] and [[Department of Protective Services]], the diplomatic and military branches of Superiority government.{{book ref|sky2|11}} As a result, the station also winds up housing members of the [[Delver]]s Resistance Project, although their training is done in a different system.{{book ref|sky2|20}} For civillians, carrying personal weapons is forbidden while on the station, though this ban might not apply to foreign officials.{{book ref|sky2|19}}

Locally, all vehicles travelling to and from the station are subject to '''Platform Docking Authority''', whose ships can be recognized by their white coat of paint. Starsight has a public information archive, accessible though the local datanet, with information even on topics such as humans.{{book ref|sky2|18}} There are also several news networks, both text and TV, which aren't afraid to criticize the government.{{book ref|sky2|29}} However, it's uncertain just how free they are; though they can and will report on events such as civil uprisings and leaked information, they also seem to be easily manipulated by the Department of Protective Services.{{book ref|sky2|45}}
