==Site Being Faster?==

Today the wiki and the site is running extremely fast (especially compared to the crap service we've had earlier). Do you agree? -- [[User:Chaos2651|Chaos2651]] ([[User talk:Chaos2651|talk]]) 16:27, 3 June 2012 (EDT)

I'm confused about why you reverted my most recent edit on [[Ars Arcanum]]. If italicizing book titles in headers is the convention, that's fine, but why de-italicize ''[[Elantris]]'' in the body? [[User:Disorientedperson|Disorientedperson]] ([[User talk:Disorientedperson|talk]]) 09:18, 2 June 2017 (MST)
: Its faster now yes, much more usable :D --16:38, 3 June 2012 (EDT)

::: The speed is intermittent, and I'm still getting some errors, but yeah, its awesome :D --[[User:Fbstj|Joe ST]] ([[User talk:Fbstj|talk]]) 04:29, 4 June 2012 (EDT)

: Oh, sorry I didn't see the Elantris link when I clicked the 'revert' button, that's a fine change and feel free to make it again. Sorry for the confusion. --[[User:Fbstj|Joe ST]] ([[User talk:Fbstj|talk]]) 14:57, 2 June 2017 (MST)
==Administratorship==

Thank you for the stellar work you have done on the wiki. I would like to apologise for my own extended absence and to grant you powers as an administrator. Hopefully I will be able to find time in the near future to return to the wiki and assist you. I have sent a message to Chaos2651 requesting ConfirmEdit and ParserFunctions plugins so hopefully the spam issue will soon be resolved.

Thank you again for your dedication.--[[User:Beligaronia|Beligaronia]] ([[User talk:Beligaronia|talk]]) 22:40, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

:Thank you so much :) and indeed I've missed you :D I'll try my best to be all adminy and stuff, but I also may have some downtime soon, with finals coming up and stuff. Thank you :D 22:43, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

:Oh, and another good one might be (the official) [http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:DynamicPageList_(Wikimedia) DPL] plugin (or one of the forks if you wish for more functionality) It'd be much better than the lists of characters I've recently been adding to [[{page}/Characters]] and then transcluded where needed, and I'm sure I could find other places for it to be used :D. [[User:Fbstj|Fbstj]] 22:59, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

==CharacterInfobox==

Do we want to use the switches instead of the subtemplates? It would seem easier to implement if it isn't server intensive or something like that. Your thoughts?--[[User:Beligaronia|Beligaronia]] ([[User talk:Beligaronia|talk]]) 23:57, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

:I guess a #switch: for the world though the race|homeland|etc → world translation could be its own template, much like the homeland|race → race one ({{[[Template:Race|Race]]}}) might be better. I was actually gonna wait until more consensus/organization happens before doing much more on those, hehehe. I hear ParserFunctions is probably more server intensive than multiple-deep transclude, though I dont know for sure. [[User:Fbstj|Joe ST]] 00:06, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

I was curious what the policy is for pointing out cosmere connections/easter eggs. One of my additions to the article for Tetradel was recently reverted, and I'm wondering if the change itself was unwelcome, or if I'd simply put it in the wrong place. Any clarity you can offer would be helpful. Thank you! [[User:Purp|Purp]] ([[User talk:Purp|talk]]) 07:24, 18 July 2017 (MST)

What do you think about the stub template going at the bottom of an article, rather than in the middle. Wikipedia puts it at the bottom and it would cause less disruption to what little information these pages have. Another option would be to put it at the very top, above the text if you're worried it will go unnoticed.--[[User:Beligaronia|Beligaronia]] ([[User talk:Beligaronia|talk]]) 22:49, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

: Hey there Purp. Your edits are certainly not unwelcome! In that case though, you added pure speculation and didn't link to any sort of significant discussion or agreement of the ideas, so me and Windrunner (one of the other staff) decided to remove it. Thank you again for all your other edits --[[User:Fbstj|Joe ST]] ([[User talk:Fbstj|talk]]) 07:31, 18 July 2017 (MST)

:: I see. Since the lines in the two books describing the men were virtually identical, I thought that was sufficient to post the possible connection. If all connections/easter eggs require some sort of confirmation outside of the text itself, I will adjust any future contributions accordingly. Thank you for the quick response. [[User:Purp|Purp]] ([[User talk:Purp|talk]]) 07:50, 18 July 2017 (MST)
:I put it under the first bit so that people could easily tell it was a stub, but still be able to read the first bit. At the very top I guess would work, the bottom not so much since it'd be hidden though wp does do that yeah..... [[User:Fbstj|Joe ST]] 09:23, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

:Though, I guess if the template is at the bottom and you cannot see it straight away, it's obviously not needed XD [[User:Fbstj|Joe ST]] 12:12, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

: Thanks for understanding. It's a good idea, but the wiki isn't really meant for every single speculation, especially since so much of speculation is in the eye of the speculator. We'd much rather keep it as things that are definitely in the books or from the words of Brandon or his team. I say you should share and discuss your theory somewhere else and then maybe someone will ask Brandon about it! --[[User:Fbstj|Joe ST]] ([[User talk:Fbstj|talk]]) 08:03, 18 July 2017 (MST)

Why did you revert my edits to [[Template:Oathbringer Summaries]]? My goal was to add more chapter titles and make the chapter titles in Part 1 easier to read. --[[User:LevenThumps|LevenThumps]] ([[User talk:LevenThumps|talk]]) 11:47, 19 November 2017 (MST)
That fixed with the hick up (I am not familiar with the {{#!: function, maybe it is what allows you to avoid the wiki syntax table inside a table problem or it was fixed in on of the mediawiki updates since last time I looked.

Btw, why don't you use the standard 'Template:Infobox' form Wikipedia? --[[User:Mbg|Mbg]] ([[User talk:Mbg|talk]]) 18:34, 8 November 2012 (UTC)

: The {{#!: function returns everything (including pipes) between its : and }}. Basically because I dont really like the idea of {{t|!}}. We dont use WP:T:Infobox because I've been incrementally refactoring our version for a while, and I (as the templates maintainer) prefer my own syntax to WP's. --[[User:Fbstj|Joe ST]] ([[User talk:Fbstj|talk]]) 19:58, 8 November 2012 (UTC)

== Templates ==

=== Template Syntax ===

I know I dont need to put the namespace in template calls, however both form works and IMO the later improve readability. Similarly I find templates names like {{t|B}} counter productive, when they are used in regular pages, which supposed to be edited by regular contributor, who don't necessary know what a template is. Templates suppose to make life easier for people to add content. --[[User:Mbg|Mbg]] ([[User talk:Mbg|talk]]) 07:06, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

: Indeed, using {{t|b}} manually is discouraged/depreciated, that's why its not documented (other than to show all the possible conversions). Adding ''Template:'' before every template call does not improve readability, it just makes articles longer and less maintainable. --[[User:Fbstj|Joe ST]] ([[User talk:Fbstj|talk]]) 07:12, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

=== Template:Move ===

Reagrding your [http://coppermind.net/w/index.php?title=Template%3AMove&diff=12813&oldid=12811 revert], Please take care with reverts, if you think that the line brake was necessary there put it back, my intention was to fix the issue that caused the move template to include itself in the articles that need need attention category, which you reverted. (personally, I think that using the &lt;hr&gt; tag there will look better, but its your call) --[[User:Mbg|Mbg]] ([[User talk:Mbg|talk]]) 07:12, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

: It was intentionally included in that category, as it relates to all of those pages. --[[User:Fbstj|Joe ST]] ([[User talk:Fbstj|talk]]) 07:14, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

:: Maybe we should change that, ideally the category should include only articles that need attention(similar to how the rest of the notice templates work) and if necessary the role of the template can be documented in the category page. --[[User:Mbg|Mbg]] ([[User talk:Mbg|talk]]) 07:24, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

: Go ahead, that sounds like a good compromise. --[[User:Fbstj|Joe ST]] ([[User talk:Fbstj|talk]]) 07:26, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

=== Template place ===

Can you remove the white space from the image row on the [[Template:place]] or add an optional parameter todo so. So that I can fit the map images better. (for example [[Jah Keved]]) --[[User:Mbg|Mbg]] ([[User talk:Mbg|talk]]) 03:10, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

: there you go, {{{map-width}}} --[[User:Fbstj|Joe ST]] ([[User talk:Fbstj|talk]]) 09:52, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

:: Thanks.--[[User:Mbg|Mbg]] ([[User talk:Mbg|talk]]) 00:44, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

=== Request for reflist ===

I think that we might use a reflist template, for article with large reference list [[Chronology#Notes|for example(and growing)]], to avoid unnessary spam. Unless we already have a template that encapsulate the reference tag and allow columns. --[[User:Mbg|Mbg]] ([[User talk:Mbg|talk]]) 01:30, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

: Or just <code><nowiki>{{columns|<references />}}</nowiki></code> with <code>{{{cols}}}</code> for the number of columns

:: Not as pretty but it works, thanks. --[[User:Mbg|Mbg]] ([[User talk:Mbg|talk]]) 06:33, 12 November 2012 (UTC)

== Syntax ==

I notice you keep changing the syntax to <code><nowiki>;xx :</nowiki></code> is it because you like the end result better, don't like bullet points or because its a easier to write than <code><nowiki>'''xx''',</nowiki></code>? --[[User:Mbg|Mbg]] ([[User talk:Mbg|talk]]) 00:43, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

: all of the above, and more. It gives the same result but is easier to edit. --[[User:Fbstj|Joe ST]] ([[User talk:Fbstj|talk]]) 11:28, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

:: I agree it is easier to edit, but is it easier to read? I find the [http://coppermind.net/wiki/Alethkar?oldid=12921#Princedoms harder way] to be more fluent and to take less space, compared with the [http://coppermind.net/wiki/Alethkar?oldid=12991#Princedoms easier one]. I don't mind to put the extra work, so unless you object I would prefer to use the second syntax where it fits. --[[User:Mbg|Mbg]] ([[User talk:Mbg|talk]]) 11:44, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

: That section needs reformatting anyway, I doubt it will look like that when it's done, but whatever, I like ;: --[[User:Fbstj|Joe ST]] ([[User talk:Fbstj|talk]]) 11:57, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

== Images ==

What is your policy on images, for example regarding a test full illustration I found [http://17thshard.deviantart.com/ here]. --[[User:Mbg|Mbg]] ([[User talk:Mbg|talk]]) 06:33, 12 November 2012 (UTC)

== Revert ==

Regarding the [http://coppermind.net/w/index.php?title=Template%3ABooks&diff=13327&oldid=13324 revert]. As I explained in the edit summary the navbar title is misleading and do not represent the content of the navbar. (It say's "Published works" and include unpublished titles, as well as unconfirmed working names like 'The Highprince of War'). Thus one or the other should be fixed. So why did you use Revert? --[[User:Mbg|Mbg]] ([[User talk:Mbg|talk]]) 14:58, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
