OK then hey

So I am new to this type of layout for a site, not sure if there is another more personal way to message you so this will have to do for now.

Firstly I have been putting in edits for quite a while now, but have just recently decided to actually make an account but thanks for the welcome anyways.Already have loads of edits under my belt but they are attributed to my I.P. instead I believe.

Secondly I decided to leave Hashal and Matal as being completed since they do not show up anymore and are not mentioned again in the second book.Didn't realise that layout was also taken into account when deciding what is or isn't a completed article. Also I thought that setting it to be completed but not reviewed was like flagging it for admins to review it.

Thirdly, I am fairly certain that Fleets page is done with.Whenever Hoid tells a story it seems that he tells a completely different story for each person he talks to and it depends on what he wants to say i.e. he makes them up on the spot to fit what he wants to get across to someone (his stories in Warbreaker notwithstanding ofc) Seems to me Fleet is a character which has been made up by Hoid just for talking to Kal and is even based on him.Your thoughts on this?

Azir

I was wondering what your reason was for reverting the changes I made to the Azir page? Arook (talk) 09:13, 31 May 2015 (MDT)

Hey there Arook. I reverted your changes because you removed some info from the page, and while you removed redundancy we encourage you to not remove any facts if possible. Thanks for your contributions and I encourage you to continue to edit things :D --Joe ST (talk) 09:58, 31 May 2015 (MDT)

Adoline

Pretty sure Adoline is just one aspect. She has OCD, others have different issues. Hence my singularization. Ja? User:Gargoyle (talk)

It's singular they, we're never given a gender for them. --Joe ST (talk) 01:12, 16 June 2015 (MDT)
Would it be acceptable to replace "they" with "Adoline"? As is, it sounds really odd. --User:Gargoyle (talk)

Category Splinter

Ok, so where is it if one already exists?

category: splinters --Joe ST (talk) 23:25, 17 June 2015 (MDT)
It would have made more sense to delete that one becuase the only page pointing to it is this one Arook (talk) 23:47, 17 June 2015 (MDT) Arook
We prefer plural names though, as with the majority of other entity-including categories --Joe ST (talk) 23:51, 17 June 2015 (MDT)

Regarding Places Category

Hello.

I realized soon after I made the change on the Alendel page that it hadn't worked out as I'd hoped, but I'm not exactly sure why. The Category:Places Category was removed by Chaos, to be replaced with Category:Locations, and I was trying to get rid of a redlink category. However, when I swapped around the word 'Place' with 'Location', it didn't work. Is there any way you would suggest that we can get rid of the redlink category?

Hey, it's great to see you editing. That's because you didn't change a category ([[Category: places]]) you changed the template ({{place}}), which automatically adds Category: Locations. What you were seeing when you saw it was still in :Category: Places was a cached version of the page --Joe ST (talk) 01:15, 18 June 2015 (MDT)

Spren and Character Templates

I had a question on templates Specifically Spren info and Character templates. lets start with Spren info is there a way to make it so that it can identify Spren that have gain sentience(i.e. syl) as opposed to Spren like Flame spren and Rain spren. the reason for this is that these Spren are Splinters so I want them in the Splinter category and I was hoping that the info box would be the best way to do that and it leaves the pages less cluttered.

So the Character template may just be a confusion on my part but each person in the Cosmere would have this set of identifiers race(i.e. human, listerner etc), homeworld, local world ethnicity, current local political affiliation or nationality. It seems to me that Character template is not Set up to divide these and place them in the appropriate sub categories. Am I just not understanding how it works? an example is if I put a persons home world as Roshar it should Identity them as Rosharan on the page and add them to this subcategory. As it sits I kind of does some of it it adds Roshar and maybe stating Rosharan is redundant but it should make them a part of that sub category either way right. I do not know enough about templates to edit one like this yet so until I know what I'm doing I'm not going to. However if you are able to change the template I can track down the pages to update them though most would be fixed immediately for the home world. I hope that made sense. The spren info box is going to be depreciated and these two types will go in either Lifeforms or Characters, respectively. I'm not sure what you are referring to with the second point, because it does add these templates directly, doesn't it? Everything that is a character has a world parameter and Rosharan is always added there automatically. Do you see an example where it does not? -- Chaos2651 (talk) 19:22, 18 June 2015 (MDT)

Cool then spren info is obsolete. As for the character template I can not remember/find what page I was using to edit the other day but i double checked and it does add the Rosharan category. I think maybe that page was telling me that that it does not have an ethnicity or nationality tag. Ya Looking at that template didn't help me understand it every much I'm sure now it was just me not understanding what you guys already did. Arook (talk) 12:06, 19 June 2015 (MDT) arook

ok I found that page again and it was the ethnicity or nationality tag it was taking about so that my me not understanding. If you give a character an world tag of Shadesmar what categories would that put it in? Would ethnicity (i.e. Cryptic)be the best place for the Splinter category to be attached to? Would Nationality (i.e. Spren)be the best place for the Spren category to be attached to? Arook (talk) 14:16, 20 June 2015 (MDT) arook

Aspects

There are quite a few links to it from the Legion pages, which I'm planning to lengthen next- phattemer

There's already an equivalent page at Aspect. You can pluralise that link by typing [[Aspect]]s --Joe ST (talk) 09:19, 24 June 2015 (MDT)

Claim Edit

Is there a way I can claim an edit? I was editing returned, but somehow was logged out during the edit and it was attributed to my IP instead of to me. This is the edit ZAD-Man (talk) 10:49, 29 June 2015 (MDT)

Ahhh hmmm, I don't think there is any easy way, unfortunately. I could go ahead and revert those changes so you can 'reapply' them with your account if you really must? --Joe ST (talk) 10:58, 29 June 2015 (MDT)
Eh, that's fine. :) What matters is that the changes made it in there, so if there isn't a easy way, it's no problem. ZAD-Man (talk) 09:27, 2 July 2015 (MDT)

Thanks...

I think I've gathered enough 'thanks' thanks to you to start my own 'thanks' shop... SAMWAF (talk) 08:57, 3 November 2015 (MST)

Hehehe, well you're doing some great work so thank you again :D --Joe ST (talk) 09:05, 3 November 2015 (MST)
I just changed a lot of infoboxes. Can you make sure that everything is tagged correctly? I'm not as familiar with the tags that this wiki is using. One thing that I may suggest is that the Category:Surgebinders and Category:Surgebinding be merged into one tag; I don't see the value in having two different tags, and currently, some characters are categorized one tag while others are under the other. SAMWAF (talk) 13:00, 4 November 2015 (MST)
Hey there, thanks for doing that, I looked over them and didn't see any problems. The Surgebinding cat isn't supposed to have any characters in it, that's what the Surgebinders cat is for, so I'll check that out. --Joe ST (talk) 13:02, 4 November 2015 (MST)
