Shallan Davar

Shallan Davar is a character from the series The Stormlight Archive.

Shallan Davar is from Jah Keved, a member of the Devotary of Purity. She is a Soulcaster and currently receiving training from Jasnah. She is in possession of a Shardblade. She is also known to have murdered her father.

Shallan is considered shy by her family, but when she leaves the family estates behind, she opens up and gains confidence. She has a quick wit, and often unthinkingly utters the first thing to come to mind.

She has a passion for learning and a great talent for drawing, and uses a sort of temporary photographic memory to capture moments and later depict them. She is never without her sketchbooks and charcoal, so she might draw whatever catches her interest.

The Way of Kings

Shallan spends several months chasing Jasnah across many cities, hoping to become her ward in order to steal Jasnah's soulcaster. She finally catches up to Jasnah in Kharbranth, and attempts to convince her to take Shallan as her ward three times, finally succeeding on the third.

Shallan begins studying with Jasnah, and develops a friendship with the ardent Kabsal.
