He used to think that the other alien species has achieved a paradise, and worked to prevent mankind from achieving FTL travel, believing that his species was uncivilized and would bring ruin to the paradise. After learning of the fact that the aliens imprison their dissidents, he comes to realize that they are not as perfect as he thought.
