@[[User:LadyLameness]] Apologies if I went a bit overboard on editing for my own style; perhaps I ought to use a lighter touch going forward. I do think the "In [the] modern day" addition really should be there, though. As far as I'm aware, one might use "modern-day" as an adjective, as in "In modern-day Roshar", or refer to the period directly with "In the modern day", but just "In modern day" looks very strange to me. Perhaps it's a BrE/AmE difference? I couldn't find any mention of it online, but I know that, for instance, "in future" and "in hospital" are used in BrE in a way that they are not in AmE.
