It did not originally have an illness based magic system.{{wob ref|11304}}{{wob ref|11585}} The civilisation on Ashyn managed to gain access to magic forbidden on [[Roshar]], this magic included the [[surges]].{{book ref|sa3|111}}{{wob ref|9464}}{{wob ref|14434}}

The memory of Ashyn would effect Rosharn mythology.{{wob ref|10549}} It is remembered as the Tranquiline Halls.{{wob ref|8496}}
Patches of civilisation remained on Ashyn despite the devastation. The surviving cities took to the skys as floating cities. {{wob ref|8243}} It's magic system in modern times is based off illness,{{wob ref|3086}}{{wob ref|11585}} however this was not always it's magic system.{{wob ref|11304}} The disease based magic works off a symbiotic relationship between [[investiture]] and bacteria.{{wob ref|14143}} One such disease allows the infected to make landmasses float, these are how Ashyn achieves it's famous floating cities.{{wob ref|12271}}
