Szeth finds Taravangian and demands to know if the Radiants are returning, he holds himself barely in check, and his self control is almost gone. Taravangian quickly deflects and tells Szeth that an honorblade that allows regrowth and that the man Szeth fought was no Radiant, Szeth is appeased and vows to kill him and retrieve the honorblade. Taravangian forbids him and orders Szeth to kill Dalinar Kholin while staying away from the man.

Szeth traveled to [[Yeddaw]] with Nale to find a potential radiant who lived there{{book ref|sa2.5|9}}. During his time in the city, [[Lift]] passed him in the city's [[Grand Indicium]], he draws Nightblood to test her, and leaves her alone when Nightblood's power leaves her unharmed {{book ref|sa2.5|15}}. When he finds her chasing after him and the other Skybreakers, he stops and informs her that she cannot possibly get there before they do and also tells her the identity of the person they were seeking {{book ref|sa2.5|16}}.
