His full name was Numuhukumakiaki'aialunamor, but since no one could pronounce it, he went by Rock. His name was a poem about a rock his father found before he was born.{{citeref|b|wok|c|27}}

He ended up on the [[Shattered Plains]] because his ''nuatoma'' (leader) challenged [[Sadeas]] for his [[Shardplate]]. His ''nuatoma'' lost, and his household, of which Rock was the cook, was given to Sadeas. Rock became a bridgeman because he cooked chull dung into all of Sadeas's food.{{citeref|b|wok|c|23}}
